Borough Museum and Art Gallery, Newcastle-under-Lyme (Newcastle Museum) Title << This is a general museum and art gallery with wide-ranging collections covering most collection categories (although its natural science holdings are minimal). Its main focus is on the history of the Borough from the earliest times. The displays include traditional showcased presentation and a street of Victorian shops. Description << The collection covers archaeology, arms & armour, costume and textile, decorative & applied art, fine art, numismatics, oral history, photographic, science & industry, social history. Materials included in the collection are manuscripts and books, weapons, costumes and accessories, embroideries, ceramics, medals, oral history recordings, photographs, toys (in particular, dolls). There are examples of the work of local craftsmen Samuel Bell, Henshall Moss and Thomas Wood (ceramics) and Francis Chamberly and John Beech (clocks).
