Walsall: hints & tips

How did you get on? You’ll find some points below to help you see if you included all the data available and put it in the correct fields.

Walsall Local History Centre
The Centre is the archive repository and local studies library of Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council and as such accepts donations and deposits of film/video material which relates to the local area. Film is transferred to video for easier access by researchers. This is only a small collection, which does not represent a large part of the overall holdings of the Centre.

The text points out that the film and video collection is a small part of the overall holdings. It is useful therefore to give this specific part of the collection its own title and create a separate collection-level description for the "super collection" - Walsall Local History Centre.

  • Title:Walsall Local History Centre - Film and Video Collection
  • Description
  • Concept: Walsall – History, Local (LCSH)
The keywords or subject descriptors listed under CONCEPT should be selected from a recognised schema - best practice is Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) Level 1. The schema that is being used should be acknowledged
