Open Archives Initiative

The Open Archives Initiative (OAI) develops and promotes interoperability standards that aim to facilitate the efficient dissemination of content. In particular, the OAI Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) privides a lightweight harvesting protocol for sharing metadata between services.
