Z-directory provides information about Z39.50 targets in the UK. It is intended to support the configuration of Z39.50 clients and facilitate connection to UK services. All UK organisations with Z39.50 targets are encouraged to register their services.

When you click "Add" we will record your details in the Z-directory. Simultaneously we will interogate your target to try and determine the Z39.50 services it supports.

Based on this we will automatically create an ExplainLite record for your target. Once the ExplainLite is created you will be able to view it by clicking on your service name in the directory. The link will not be live until the ExplainLite has been generated.

If our robot encounters errors while attempting to contact your service, "[error]" will appear next to your service. Please check that the hostname, port number and database name are correct. If they are then please contact support@ukoln.ac.uk. Note that if your Z39.50 target is behind a firewall then our robot will not be able to interrogate it.
