This international conference, which carries the overall theme of Realising the Digital Library, included speakers from the United States and the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia and Europe.

In addition to keynote addresses, the programme was be divided into four main areas,

• CNI project Assessment of network services and systems;
  evaluation of eLib programme;
  Metadata - policy level issues for implementation
