Please note: The JISC Joint Programmes Meeting is now fully subscribed. No more registrations for the meeting are being accepted.

A Joint Programmes Meeting is being held on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 July 2004, organised by the JISC Development Group. The Joint Programmes Meeting is to allow the JISC Development Programme participants to meet each other and to meet the JISC Executive. It will be an opportunity for information exchange and exploration of issues pertinent to your project work. For example, there will be programme of introductory sessions for new programmes, synthesis sessions for those coming to a close, briefing sessions on generic issues - such as usability and visualisation - and exploratory meetings on areas of interest, including IPR and cultural change. There will be a joint poster session where all projects will have the opportunity to display their work, and on-line demonstrations where projects can see others' developments in action.

WHO IS INVITED?

Two project representatives from each project. The programmes involved are as follows:

FAIR, X4L, CSR Digitisation, Semantic Grid and Autonomic Computing, Shared Services, Digital Curation Centre, OSS Watch, e-research training and awareness programmes, Core Middleware Programme, Digital Libraries in the Classroom, Portals and Presentation, Digital Library Infrastructure & Join-Up, Text Mining Centre, The Frameworks Programme, JISC Committee members and some representatives of the e-learning programme. In addition, colleagues from completed projects will also be present at the event. All invited projects must be represented at the meeting.

VENUE

The venue will be the De Vere Grand Hotel in Brighton. Please view for additional accommodation in Brighton

START AND END TIMES

The workshop will begin with registration at 09.00 a.m. on 6 July and close on 7 July at 18.30 p.m. at the latest.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

Registration is now closed as the conference is full.

AGENDA

The draft agenda is now available. The proposed format of the event will provide the opportunity for programme specific meetings and to attend other meetings that are of wider interest across programmes. There will be an opening welcome by the Head of Development at JISC, followed by programme specific meetings, presentations and demonstrations. In addition all projects should note that a poster session is planned - this will mean that projects will need to produce a poster to be displayed at the event. The poster session is an opportunity for all projects to network and see the wide range of work across the programmes. Further guidance on the poster content and dimensions will be forthcoming once the venue layout has been designed.

COST

Travel & subsistence costs for up to two representatives per project will be reimbursed by the JISC via a claims based procedure. Registration for the meeting will include all meals and an overnight stay on Tuesday 6 July - the associated cost of which will be covered by the JISC.  Please view the booking form for a full explanation. We encourage early booking of your travel to get the best value tickets. Should you identify associated costs that are over and above reasonable travel and subsistence (£200 max. per person) you must inform Susan Kumari at s.kumari@jisc.ac.uk so authorisation can be sought before you book.

Please note that when booking extra nights accommodation it is essential to inform the hotel that you are attending the meeting in order to receive the conference rate for the extra nights.

JISC-CNI Conference 2004

Please note that the JISC/CNI Conference on The future of scholarship in the digital age is a two-day event that will take place on 8 & 9 July at the De Vere Grand in Brighton. This is a JISC-CNI event that is running independently of the Joint Programmes Meeting.  Registration for the JISC-CNI event is entirely separate from the Programmes Meeting on 6 & 7 July.  (Details can be found at: http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/events/)
