Events attended

• Earlier this month, I spoke at a seminar organised by Book Industry Communication (BIC), the American National Information Standards Organization (NISO) and the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP). The seminar was looking at the issue of rights, e-commerce etc. and publishers in the digital age. My presentation is available with the others at http://www.bic.org.uk/BIC_NISO_ALPSP.html.
• Also in London, I attended the Town Meeting to discuss bids to JISC's circular 5/99. The closing date for this is late January, and there's plenty of scope for interesting bids across the library, museum and archive sectors...
• Late in the month, I travelled to Edinburgh to meet with the staff at EDINA and to discuss a number of issues related to the evolving Distributed National Electronic Resource (DNER) here in the UK.
