CGI parameters

Summary

DC-dot, UKOLN's Web-based Dublin Core generator and editor, operates as a CGI script taking the following parameters:

mode
The mode that DC-dot will operate in. This parameter should be set to one of the following values:
auto
DC-dot will auto-generate metadata for the supplied url and then present a populated Web form for editing.
edit
DC-dot will present a blank for for editing. Any supplied url parameter is ignored.
valid8
DC-dot will validate any existing HTML <meta> tags in the resource at the supplied url and present a summary and any errors and warnings.
rdf_only
DC-dot will auto-generate metadata for the supplied url and present it encoded as DC/RDF/XML. An HTML Web form for editing is not presented when using this parameter.
url
The URL of the resource for which metadata will be auto-generated and/or validated.
guesspublisher
Indicates whether DC-dot should attempt to guess the value of the Publisher element. The guess is based on the registrant of the domain name in the supplied url. The process of guessing the Publisher may be quite slow. The value of this parameter should be set to yes or no.
display_format
Indicates the format that DC-dot will use to display the auto-generated metadata. This parameter should be set to one of: html, xhtml, rdf or xml. The default format is xhtml.
