Conclusion

It is clear then, that the organisational, service and technology contexts of resource discovery services are not stable and that risk-free selection of approaches or confident prediction of future scenarios is not possible. Importantly, there is no singl e driving agency for these developments. Vested interests, competitive advantage, integration with legacy systems or custom and practice will always mean that there are differences of approach.

Choices made within Desire must acknowledge this wider context of change.
