PEOPLE
UKOLN has developed a new set of public library pages which are available
at http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/public/. The links
below are no longer maintained. For the latest information about UKOLN's public library
activities please visit the new set of pages.
The following people have all been involved with public library research and have
home pages on the WWW. These pages often give details of projects in progress, research
interests and contact details.
- Jean Armour Polly has just written The
Internet Yellow Pages for Kids and previously co-wrote the Project Gain report and
'Surfing the Internet'.
- Lorcan Dempsey - director of The
UK Office for Library and Information Networking (UKOLN)
- Charles McClure - based at Syracuse
University Professor McClure is the author of several important reports.
- Bob Usherwood
- Dr. Usherwood teaches at the University of Sheffield and was one of the consultants who
worked on the DNH Public Library Review.
MAILING LISTS
- Lis-pub-libs - a mailing
list aimed specifically at UK public librarians and covering all topics concerning public
libraries.
- PUBLIB-NET - an American list for discussion of Internet use in public libraries. To

- PUBLIB - this is another American list which covers all topics of public library issues

- A good collection of
library-orientated lists has been put together by Anne Thornton and Steve Bonario -
these lists are USA based and cover many types of libraries and library interests.
STATISTICS
- UK Library and
Information Statistics Tables - these useful tables include considerable public
library information and are produced by the Library and Information Statistics Unit which
is based at Loughborough University
