Welcome to the GUIDE European e-Theses Wiki

GUIDE = Guiding Universities In Doctoral Etheses

This site represents and coordinates activities by volunteers to coordinate work across Europe in the field of electronic theses and dissertations. For more detailed and up-to-date information, please navigate using the menu to the left. This will also give you contact information for those leading the particular pieces of work, should you wish to get involved.

Key points in the timeline so far are:

  • The activity was pushed forward at a meeting in Amsterdam in January 2006, and scoping work proceeded in 2006 along four strands: legal issues, organisational and cultural issues, technical issues and links beyond Europe (such as to the NDLTD). Discussion document June06_etheses_next_steps_v2.doc - this outlines the outcomes from the Amsterdam meeting and the work that is underway.
  • A meeting in Uppsala in November 2006 resulted in agreement to seek the status of an NDLTD working group, now achieved. A workplan was also agreed, detailed in the notes from that meeting.
  • Work is now ongoing on two fronts, with a view to presenting the outcomes t the work at [1] ETD2007 in Upsalla in 2007. The first is an interoperability demonstrator, and the second is an information and advice centre based around a website - see Website_Planning page (in development; please get involved by emailing <n.jacobs@jisc.ac.uk>).
This project is completed and the wiki has been archived.
