Leona worked with colleagues in UKOLN's Research and Development Team on distributed library systems, metadata and web-based environments. Most of her time was devoted to the Open Archives Forum and FAIR-PORTAL projects. She also looked more broadly at two areas:

• architectural models for digital library and related systems
• human-computer interaction and usability in the context of online resource discovery and use.
