Summary Of Workshop Evaluation Forms

Overall View

The average score for the workshop content was 4.27. This included 29 scores of 5, 30 scores of 4 and 10 scores of 3. No other scores were given.

The average score for the workshop organisation was 4.43. This included 40 scores of 5, 26 scores of 4, 6 scores of 3 and 1 scores of 2.

Individual Plenary Speakers

There were a total of 8 plenary speakers. The most highly rated speaker was Derek Law, with an average of 4.49: 47 scores of 5, 23 scores of 4 and 6 scores of 3.

The second most highly rated speaker was Mark Simpson, with an average of 4.34: 36 scores of 5, 29 scores of 3, 7 scores of 3 and 2 scores of 2.

The third most highly rated speaker was Paul Browning, with an average of 4.17: 29 scores of 5, 32 scores of 3, 12 scores of 3 and 2 scores of 2.

All of the plenary speakers had an average above 3 and all received at least 3 scores of Excellent.

Parallel Sessions

There were a total of 22 parallel sessions (excluding the vendors slot and the BoF). The most highly rated parallel session was C5: Departmental Freedom vs. Centralised Control by Mike McConnell and Iain Middleton, University of Aberdeen, with an average of 4.78 from 9 returned forms: 7 scores of 5 and 2 scores of 4.

The second most highly rated parallel session was the C2: Web Standards Briefing by Brian Kelly, UKOLN, with an average of 4.71 from 17 returned forms: 12 scores of 5 and 5 scores of 4.

The third most highly rated parallel session was the B2: The Perfect Portal ... is a Popular Portal by Julie Stuckes, UKOLN, with an average of 4.333 from 9 returned forms: 5 scores of 5, 2 scores of 4 and 1 score of 3.

The fourth most highly rated parallel session was the A6: QA For Web Sites by Brian Kelly, UKOLN, with an average of 4.14 from 7 returned forms: 3 scores of 5, 2 scores of 4 and 2 scores of 3.

The fifth most highly rated parallel session was the B4: Delivering XML in an Apache Environment by Sebastian Rahtz, University of Oxford, with an average of 4.0 from 11 returned forms: 4 scores of 5, 4 scores of 4 and 3 scores of 3.

Other Sessions

The Panel Session received an average of 3.16 from 76 returned forms: 9 scores of 5, 16 scores of 4, 31 scores of 3, 18 scores of 2 and 2 scores of 1.

The Debates received an average of 3.84 from 57 returned forms: 15 scores of 5, 22 scores of 4, 18 scores of 3, 2 scores of 2 and 1 score of 1.

The Report Back and Conclusions received an average of 3.80 from 54 returned forms: 11 scores of 5, 25 scores of 4 and 18 scores of 3.
