Chat functionality will be available for delegates and any interested parties, throughout the event.
If you have an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client, then join #iwmw on irc.ukoln.ac.uk:6667. Some browsers will automatically do this if you click on the following link: irc.ukoln.ac.uk:6667.
If you do not, you will need to download one. Here are a few options:
If these options do not work for you, please use UKOLN's Web-based IRC client.
Please note that public IRC chat is logged and may be publicly available after the workshop ends. This means that the fact that a person is not present on the channel at the time of writing does not mean that they will remain unaware of what is said. Not all channels are logged - only those in which a user known as 'loggerbot' is present. If you wish to speak privately across IRC, this is possible: to privately message another user, type '/msg theirusername your private message'.

Please choose your nick wisely. Of course, IRC allows you to 'be' whoever you want to be, as long as it is relatively short and has no 'special' characters in it. However, pretending to be known as RichardStallman or LinusTorvalds may lead to a certain amount of confusion, so for the purposes of this workshop please consider using your FirstnameLastname, like this: EmTonkin
