This page provides details on accessing the WiFi network at the University of Bath, during the IWMW 2006 event.
Before you attempt to connect to the network you must have a valid BUCS username and password. You will be given these when you register.
Note that Windows systems are vulnerable to a number of internet worms and viruses, (specifically the RPC port 135 attack) so before connecting to any Bath University network you will need to download and install the latest patches. Essential windows patches are available from the following Bath University Computing Services site.
Bath University Computer Services will deny access to the network for any user that is found not to do so.
This information is also available on the Bath University Computing Services site.
Once you have established a network connection you will need to register your laptop.
Once your laptop is connected to the network you will need to register it.

If a Registration Page does not appear, hold down Shift and click on the Refresh icon To access Web pages via HTTP on the Internet, you need to use our Web caches. You may use an automatic script to do this: http://www.bath.ac.uk/proxy/proxy.config.
However for some devices you may need to enter our Web proxy cache server settings, they are:

port: 3128
To access machines in the University library, please log on using the username and password provided at your registration.
There will be a manned Technical Support Desk during the conference for any networking questions or problems that you may have. Look for the UKOLN IT Support Crew t-shirts!
Please contact Eddie Young if you have any queries.
