Abstract

This session will go on a whistlestop tour of some of the new developments made for the March 2008 relaunch of Edge Hill's corporate Web site. See what a small, centralised Web team can deliver without a £1 million CMS! More buzzwords than you can shake a stick at and not afraid to get technical.

Thanks to everyone for coming to the session and taking part in the discussions! Slides are online on Slideshare and I've talked about the session on the Edge Hill Web Services blog. Please do post either here or on our blog with any further comments or feedback you have - it'd be great to hear people's thoughts.

Nice, I have to apologise as I'm having to attend a meeting in London today. One thing I'm interested in is the whole idea of opening up institutional information/data via APIs specifically regarding external partners - business/community organisations. I'm not sure whether institutions have thought around this with a driver being the JISC Business and Community Engagement Agenda. Maybe I could catch up with you tomorrow at the event. Again sorry I can't make today!

Hi Andrew. Right now at Edge Hill the sun is shining, the ducks are happy splashing around in the lake and there seems to be a temporary break from hundreds of school kids here on summer experience days! In Web Services, we're currently planning the next steps for the corporate website and doing logs of development on the portal/extranet. Busy times!

Hi Mike, so what is happening at Edgehill? I'm lovin the idea of an open web i.e. releasing APIs for others to use. If they won't come to us, we'll go to them. I'm coming at this stuff from a Business and Community Engagement angle too (new-ish JISC programme) which poses some extremely interesting possibilities, thoughts, risks/opportunities.

Looked like it was all sold out when I registered for the conference. I had to go for the two or three sessions which still had places. Oh well.

Hi Matthew. You weren't on the list I was sent last week but I'm not sure when that was set and if my limit was reached!

I signed up very late for IWMW, so I think there won't be much chance I'll be at this one (unless I sneak in at the back when no one's looking)

I wonder when people get to find out what sessions they've got? Fairly good chance I'll be at this one...
