UKOLN - MODELS 11 - Terminology Workshop - Aims

The immediate aims of this workshop are simple, and may be expressed as follows:

to facilitate a single high-level terminology list for deployment across a wide range of projects within Higher Education and beyond

to clarify whether or not cross-searching requirements can be met without using controlled terminologies

to foster a greater awareness amongst new projects that terminologies and thesauri are complex, and require active development and curation

to build a greater awareness of existing terminological tools, and to draw up a clear action plan to enhance access to them

to explore issues related to the use of multiple terminologies in a single online environment

to draw up a plan of action for developing the useability of current and future online terminological tools
