About the Talk
A talk was given by Elaine Jewell, East Sussex Libraries and Arts at the Running A Public
Library Website workshop held at the University of Bath on 15-16th November 1999.
- Title
- East Sussex Case Study
- Abstract
- Elaine Jewell explained how initial development of
the East Sussex County Council web site had been contracted out and further development
had been led in-house by a project officer, employed for a specific period of time. The
project officer had been employed for their web design and management skills rather than
library or local authority background. The idea of initiating a time-limited approach was
to show, in a short space of time, what the library could achieve. This was enough to win
the library control of the whole county council site. The site is now continuing to be
developed in-house with technical expertise bought in as and when necessary.
