The Tap into Bath demonstrator collection description database project has now ended and the database, created in 2004, is no longer available. However, the software and documentation remains available for download for re-use, but note that any such re-use is not supported.
Tap into Bath has been designed using open source software to enable it to be used by other projects wishing to create a collection description database.
The database structure was designed by Isobel Stark of the University of Bath Library and the public search, data entry and administrator interfaces created by Ian Bolton.
The database uses MySQL with CGI script and XHTML. The database structure is based on the RSLP Collection Description Metadata Schema.
There are three interfaces
Implementers can customise the Public Display interface through the templates, and Tap into Bath has itself used this facility. For example, the Accumulation Date Range field from the RSLP Schema appears as 'When Collected' in public display view, while the RSLP Accrual Status field appears as 'Collecting policy'.
Other users of the Tap into Bath software must acknowledge Tap into Bath as the creator of the software on their installation.
