This page provides access to the information for the discussion groups at the UKOLN workshop on Exploiting The Potential Of Wikis held at Austin Court, Birmingham on Friday 3rd November 2006.
Following the two sets of plenary talks, workshop delegates will attend discussion groups which will provide an opportunity for group discussions. Since a WiFi network is available at the venue we will encourage the discussion groups to make use of a Wiki to keep a record of the group discussions and any recommendations which may be made.
The first discussion groups took place after two plenary talks which illustrated how Wikis are being used to support teaching and learning and in a research context.
The discussion groups provided an opportunity for delegates to outline other areas in which Wikis may have a role to play, and the benefits and weaknesses of Wikis compared with other solutions.
The second discussion group took place after two plenary talks which illustrated different approaches to the provision of a Wiki service and an approach which is being taken to the evaluation of Wiki software.
This discussion group provided an opportunity for delegates to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of a variety of approaches to the provision of an institutional Wiki service and to identify the approaches which should be taken to evaluation of and deployment of Wiki.
The discussion group also provided an opportunity for delegates to make suggestions for ways in which issues raised during the workshop can be best addressed on a longer term basis.
Note from the discusssion groups are available:
In addition a copy of the full set of notes is also available.
