ONIX
ONIX (ONline Information Exchange)
is a group of product information metadata standards being developed primarily
as a method of passing information from publishers to Internet booksellers.
Developed by Book Industry Communication (BIC) in the UK and the Book
Industry Study Group in the USA and funded by the Association of American
Publishers, it aims to deliver rich product information: in addition to
basic bibliographic data, it can hold reviews, abstracts and summaries,
tables of contents and can include links to images (cover images, video
and audio files about the author and/or content, sample illustrations
and text, etc.). The first standard was that for books, followed by serials,
subsidiary rights and videos and DVDs.
Ontology
An ontology is typically a hierarchical data structure containing all relevant entities and their relationships and rules within that domain.
ORCID
Open Researcher and Contributor ID is an initiative to establish an open, independent registry that is adopted as a standard. The objective is to resolve systematic name ambiguity, by means of assigning unique identifiers linkable to and individual's research output, thereby enhancing the scientific discovery process.
