Taxonomy
A hierarchical classification of things; almost anything, animate objects, inanimate objects, places, and events, may be classified according to some taxonomic scheme. An example of a taxonomy is the Linnaean taxonomy which classified living things.

TGN
The Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names. A structured vocabulary of more than 1,000,000 geographic names.

Thesaurus
A thesaurus is a list of subject headings and cross-references used in the filing and retrieval of documents, sometimes referred to as an ontology. Generally arranged hierarchically by themes and topics, and place each term in context, allowing a user to distinguish between "bureau" the office and "bureau" the furniture.
